What is your tech purchase this year?
I’m pretty much blown my budget for 2008 on this bad boy. What is that you are looking to upgrade or purchase in 2008?
There is something in the air.
In my circle of media friends, we understand atmosphere. We know what it is. It’s a little hard to explain what it is … but all of us, we get it. It’s the look, the smell, the taste, the feel … it’s the lighting, the stage, the music, the videos, the energy.
Some of the most challenging situations for us media folk is when leadership doesn’t understand atmosphere. There is a line somewhere between “I know what I’m talking about.” and “I just need to be a servant and do what I’m told.”. It’s a fine line, and it’s difficult to find. That may be another post entirely.
Back to atmosphere. All of the lights, sound, stage setups, music, and energy that we work so hard to achieve is just fluff. It all just a setup. We work on all of that for one thing … to set an atmosphere for God to move. If God isn’t in the atmosphere, then we have failed. We use all of this stuff … all of this atmosphere … so that when people come in, they can feel something different. Something cool. Something alive. Something that God is in.
It’s not a rock show, it’s an atmosphere for God to show up and change someone’s life. And that is important.
