Strange World.

I’ve been out of full-time ministry for going on two-months now.  It’s been a strange time for me, adapting to something different.  Getting out of something that I’ve lived for nearly 8 years.  There are things I love and things that are hard to get used to.

I’m not in charge. I’m used to being the one in charge of the final product.  At work, I don’t have the final say; and that is taking some adjusting for me.  It isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it is different for me.

I just go to church. As of right now, I’m not involved in any ministry of the church.  That will more than likely change at some point.  But, for right now, we are enjoying just being able to go to church.

I still design for church. Even though I’m not on staff at NLC, they are a client of mine.  I do all the sermon-series graphics for church, so the dynamic for me is really strange.  I’m still involved heavily with the look of the church, but not really involved in the day-to-day stuff.  I kinda like that.

Weekends are mine. The weekends belong to me now.  I can do what I want to do.  I’ve been able to spend time with friends and family that come into town.  I’m also able to make plans to go out of town if want.  We typically go to Saturday night services at NLC, so Sundays I get to sleep in… and that rocks!

I’m not going to say that I’ll never work in ministry again… who knows.  But I can say that I’m enjoying this time and learning a lot about myself.
